Theresa D. Jefferson Legacy Award

 

The purpose of the Theresa D. Jefferson Legacy Award is to assist applicants with personal cost they may have during the research phase of their dissertation. Applicants must be Black male doctoral candidates currently in or immediately approaching the dissertation research phase. This award helps scholars with expenses that occur AFTER they have received the Research Award Letter of Acceptance. Funds may be used only on research related expenses. Examples include but are not limited to: data analysis software, copying cost, consumable items (e.g. nitrile gloves), transcription services, data collection equipment. Applicants will have to upload a budget breakdown sheet for their application to be complete.

Winners will be expected to complete one of the Jefferson Family Foundation Educational Webinars on the topic related to their dissertation research.

Bobby W. Jefferson Sr. Veteran Award

 

The purpose of the Bobby W. Jefferson Sr. Veteran Award is to acknowledge the sacrifice and service for a US Military Veteran. The winner must be enrolled in an accredited two or four-year post-secondary institution.

Who is eligible?:

  • Person who served in the active military or reserves and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable

  • Working toward an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree

  • Focus on first generation students 

  • Focus on diverse student populations

Applicants will have to upload a copy of their transcript and DD-214 form for their application to be complete.

First-Gen Scholar Award

 

The First Gen Scholar Award is for a graduating first generation college bound high school senior with anticipated full time enrollment in an accredited two or four-year post-secondary institution. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate involvement in co-curricular or community activities. Applicants must attend school in one of the following counties: Mahoning, Stark, Summit, or Trumbull.

Applicants are considered first-generation college bound students if their parents/guardians have not completed a four-year baccalaureate degree. Applicants will have to upload a copy of their transcript for their application to be complete.

Dajaun A. Eutsey Memorial Scholarship 

 

The Dajaun A. Eutsey Memorial Scholarship is for student pursuing a degree in computer science or technology related field. Applicants may be: 1) a graduating first generation college bound high school senior with anticipated full or part time enrollment in an accredited two or four-year post-secondary institution. OR 2) current first generation college student with full or part time enrollment in an accredited two or four-year post-secondary institution.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate involvement in co-curricular or community activities. Applicants are considered first-generation college bound students if their parents/guardians have not completed a four-year baccalaureate degree. Applicants will have to upload a copy of their transcript for their application to be complete.

To be eligible applicants hometown must be in one of the following Ohio counties: Summit, Mahoning, Trumbull or Stark.
